FAQs | Permanent Make-Up | Artistic Ink Studio

What is permanent make-up (also known as cosmetics dermapigmentation)?

Permanent make-up is a medically safe and state-of-the-art technique of micro inserting natural pigment color into the dermal layer of skin. Permanent make-up is referred to as Intradermal Pigmentation, Micropigmentation, Dermapigmentation or Cosmetic Tattooing. The method is technically known as Micro-Pigment Implantation. This state-of-the-art technique was medically developed and specifically designed for safe application which produces natural to dramatic color enhancement to treated areas.

What are the advantages of having permanent make-up enhancement?

Permanent make-up is for both men and women. Designed for the busy person who has little or no time to apply conventional make up, athletic people, and for those with oily skin, whose make up seems to disappear. Persons allergic to conventional make up or anyone with limited hand movement, poor eyesight, contact lens wearers, burn survivors or people with skin imperfections can also benefit from permanent make-up enhancement. Essentially anyone who wants to enhance their natural appearance and look their best can benefit from permanent make-up.

Do permanent make-up procedures require more than one application?

A follow-up appointment to give greater density in the color may be scheduled in four to six weeks when overall healing is complete. Generally, the recommended follow-up applications are performed within 90 days of the initial procedure and are performed at no additional charge. Regular maintenance or additional pigment applications are charged a fee at a reduced rate.

Are there any special precautions to considered prior to having a permanent make-up procedure?

Persons prone to fever blisters or cold sores may have an outbreak in association with lip procedures. Therefore it is advised for you to contact your physician to obtain an appropriate prescribed medication to help prevent the possible outbreak of these conditions. You can also contact your local pharmacist for advice about a homeopathic preventative for cold sores and fever blisters, to be taken prior to any lip procedure.

Is permanent make-up really permanent?

While permanent make-up is considered to be a permanent procedure, it is very normal for pigment fading to occur over a period of time. The time period for pigment fading varies with each individual. Maintenance procedures are available to restore vibrancy in the color as it lightens.
